About the Author – Claude Alain Solliard

Claude Alain Solliard grew up in Savièse, Switzerland, and moved to New York City as a young chef, working in some of the city’s most renowned restaurants—including Lespinasse, San Domenico, Le Cirque, and Raoul’s. He later became the chef-owner of the beloved bistro Seppi’s at Le Parker Meridien.

An avid runner and cyclist, Solliard trains in Central Park, where he became frustrated by the amount of litter he saw every day. This inspired him to create the “Pick It Up, Please” initiative—a campaign to raise awareness about trash and environmental responsibility.

Encouraged by his friend Serge Durka to start with children, Solliard wrote Marcelin and Marcy: Two Elephants for a Cleaner World to teach the next generation how to protect our planet and form lifelong habits of care and respect.
