Okay, maybe not so ordinary.
Forced to care for her grandparents in Montana during Christmas break, Amy finds her orchestrated world is about to snap. A cantankerous grandfather who doesn't want her help but needs it because of a stroke. A grandmother who is the sweetest thing ever but suffers from Alzheimer's. And family members out to protect "their share" of the old homestead.
While Amy babysits her grandparents, the "children" of the family make plans to divide up the estate among themselves.
Grandpa, a master cello maker who can no longer do his craft, reluctantly shares with Amy the story of his great adventure - how he met and won the heart of his wife in Vietnam.
But Amy is concerned with more immediate issues such as finding out if her boyfriend is dating someone else when she's not around, or fending off the Montana boy who takes an interest in her.
As she learns more about her grandparents, Amy finds her own experiences coinciding with their love story.
By the end, she's willing to fight her entire family to see that her grandparents' great adventure doesn't end in a nursing home.
While her great adventure is just beginning.
